K-P Energy Consultants uses the industry standard Transient Voltage Surge Supression (TVSS) units to protect all electrical equipment from the devastating effects of lightning strikes and surges, internal and external. These are utilized on the load side (client’s side) of the meter and directly affect the efficiency of operations of the covered equipment.

K-P Energy Consultants has become associated with an industry leader who produces the most advanced Motor Controllers available on the market today. Currently there are ninety-three different combinations of sizing for almost every motor made from 120 volts up to 600 volts and from 1½ hp up 300 hp. Our motor controllers can increase the power factor, which sometimes can be as low as 60%, and raise it up to 98% substantially reducing the amount of power used, saving a sizeable amount of electricity.

K-P Energy Consultants also deals with one of the most innovative Lighting Controller companies, allowing us to provide lighting control solutions to our clients depending on the application. Lighting controllers work by reducing the power sent to the lights after they have taken the necessary time to start or warm up, depending on the case. Lighting controller applications are ideal for exterior parking lot lighting and municipal street lighting, just to name a few. In most cases the saving can be as high as 15 -25%.

K-P Energy Consultants has recently acquired the rights to provide a completely unique solution to the lighting requirements of our clients. Given the fact that T-12 fluorescents, the most commonly used florescent, will no longer be available at the end of 2008, and that T-8 fluorescents will probably also be phased out by government regulation shortly after that, K-P Energy Consultants has found a solution that is years ahead of its’ time in the lighting industry. Companies will be required to completely replace their existing T-12 fixtures with new T-8 fixtures, which will include electronic ballasts. Our solution allows the client to retain their existing fixtures with the use of a simple adapter that already contains the electronic ballast and allows us to install the extremely economical and efficient T-5 Fluorescent Lamp. During installation the electrician simply disconnects the obsolete existing ballast in the fixture. The T-5 lamp and adaptor are installed, saving up to 52% of your lighting costs compared to the original T-12 lamps. These lights not only save energy, they are 25% brighter than T-8 and 50% brighter than a T-12 lamp. They also provide full spectrum light, which means you will experience the same lighting effect as natural daylight. Use of these full spectrum lights have been proven to reduce eyestrain and fatigue normally associated with regular fluorescent lamps. A complete line of fluorescent tube lamps are also available to replace Hi density sodium and mercury vapour lamps with the same savings and full light spectrum advantage.

K-P Energy Consultants has further savings available for our clients with the use of our Tank-less Water Heaters, sometimes called on-demand water heaters. This product provides instant hot water without the use of a reservoir. The advantage to this system is that the tank does not have to be constantly reheated as the temperature drops inside the tank. Furthermore, the harmful deposits normally found in hot water tanks are almost nonexistent.

K-P Energy Consultants has access to a completely unique device used in commercial refrigeration for walk-in coolers, fridges and freezers normally found in supermarket applications. The device is a Food Mimicking Box that intelligently turns your fridge or freezer on and off based upon food temperature levels instead of air temperature levels. The purpose of this device is to intelligently trick the air sensor that turns the compressor on and off. By fitting over that sensor and converting the on and off cycles to be based on food temperatures, instead of air temperatures the cycles are far less. It is like putting your fridge on cruise control instead of the stop and go method. Savings range from 10% to 30% depending on the application.

K-P Energy Consultants has also addressed the building envelope with three grades of Radiant Barrier that reflects 97% of internal heat in the winter and 97% of external heat in the summer. The performance of the product far exceeds the radiant barrier minimum classification requirements and the cost is comparable to the cost of standard vapour barrier products.
